Augusta Pimento
Augusta Pimento
8x10x3/4” original acrylic painting on canvas
Inspiration behind the piece:
If I gave this series of Augusta National paintings a name, it would be “Well Done.” Not in the overcooked-steak-sense or in a self-congratulatory way (goodness, no), but rather in awe of the excellence on display each Spring. Azaleas and dogwoods backdropping perfectly manicured blades of the greenest grass coupled with the loveliest water hazards, looking not like hazards at all but the prettiest mirrors of perfectly blue skies all set against the soundtrack of songbirds, hushed voices and triumphant cheers – it’s God’s glory on display. Beauty, brilliance, and good food: this is why we love the Master’s. I hope these pieces will bring joy to you or someone you love.
And, for this piece, I’d like to add that I’ve officially made two batches of the Master’s recipe for pimento cheese in the past two weeks. It’s my current craving that I am fully indulging! These sandwiches also remind me of my grandmother, who made me this comfort sandwich on many afternoons when I stayed at her home, along with a nice glass of Sprite. Brings a smile to my face right now, just thinking of it!
